New Glenn

Blue Origin

Blue Origin's heavy-lift, partially reusable orbital rocket — finally flying.

New Glenn is a two-stage heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. Its first stage uses seven BE-4 methane/LOX engines and is designed for propulsive landing and reuse. After more than a decade of development, New Glenn flew its maiden mission in early 2025 and has since added additional successful launches.

Fun facts
New Glenn is named after John Glenn — the first American to orbit Earth in 1962.
Blue Origin's BE-4 methane engines are among the first commercial methane engines to enter operational service.
After more than a decade of delays, New Glenn completed a successful orbital flight in 2025 — and recovered its first stage on a drone ship.
