ISC Kosmotras
A converted Soviet-era SS-18 Satan ICBM repurposed as a commercial space launch vehicle.
Dnepr is a commercial launch vehicle based on the Russian R-36M2 ICBM (NATO: SS-18 Satan). Operated by ISC Kosmotras, it launched from a silo at Dombarovsky, Russia. The rocket was particularly popular for deploying multiple small satellites simultaneously, setting world records for the number of satellites launched on a single mission.
Fun facts
Dnepr was originally designed as a nuclear ICBM capable of striking anywhere on Earth.
In 2014, one Dnepr mission released 37 satellites at once — a world record at the time.
The rocket launched from an underground silo using a gas-pressure 'cold launch' ejection system.
